Welcome
Finding the right counsellor can feel daunting, so let me give you a sense of who I am and how I work.

My name is Mieke (it’s pronounced Mee-keh). I am a registered counsellor with many years of experience walking alongside people as they navigate anxiety, trauma, and life’s challenges. I hold a Master’s degree in Narrative Therapy (First Class Honours) and extensive training around trauma. My passion for this work comes from a deep belief in people’s resilience and their ability to become the person they truly want to be.
My Approach
I see counselling as a partnership. My role is to provide a warm, safe, and empathic space where you feel heard, understood, and supported. While therapy is always centred on your story and needs, I also bring in gentle education where it is helpful—offering tools, insights, and knowledge that can empower you to make sense of what’s happening and discover what works for you.

I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all approaches. Every person and every journey is unique. Together, we’ll find ways of working that fits who you are, where you’ve come from, and where you want to go.
Contact
When you come to counselling with me, you can expect warmth, compassion, and a genuine commitment to your wellbeing. I will meet you where you are along your journey, without judgment, and together we’ll create a path forward that feels right for you.
If you’re ready to begin reclaiming your life, I would love to hear from you. I offer a short, free introductory consultation so you can get a feel for how we might work together.
Specialist Support in Trauma
and
Supporting Young People
As a trauma specialist, I work with people from many walks of life who have experienced painful or overwhelming events. Trauma can come from different experiences—family violence, sexual abuse, combat, displacement or refugee journeys, disasters, loss, or other life-changing circumstances.
I stand alongside clients as they process trauma at their own pace, supporting them in finding safety, strength, and healing of the mind, the brain and body.

Alongside my work with adults, I also work with teenagers and young adults. This may involve navigating anxiety, depression, self-harm, anger, or the effects of trauma. Young people often benefit from a space that is both supportive and practical, where they can explore what’s happening in their lives and build the skills they need for resilience and growth.
